Start of Summer 2025

Hi Friends!

We've hit the campaign trail hard the last week - with our first fundraiser, an article in the paper regarding election laws, the opening of a $30m+ arts facility in Max's home county (Carroll County), and a community event in Fayetteville to support the NWA Land Trust.

First, it's easy to go to an event at Pack Rat, especially one supporting a great organization like the NWA Land Trust; if you aren't familiar with the important work they are doing related to land conservation, I encourage you to check them out!

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette had a nice article about new election laws - including comments and analysis from Max. Worst election bill of the session - Act 846, which adds restrictions to the technicality-laden process of voting absentee. The best election bill was Act 372, which allows voters who are registered in one county to transfer their voter registration on Election Day to another county in the state (the prior cutoff was 4 days before Election Day).

Finally, we attended the opening of the Inspiration Point Center for the Arts in Eureka Springs (Rachel is on the board) - a brand new $30+ million arts facility that is a big deal for Carroll County. We've been to the summer Opera in the Ozarks for years (it's fun, even though I'm not a big opera person) - it will be nice to have some AC, and it is an awesome venue!
