washington county election commission

Max Deitchler served on the Washington County Election Commission from 2014-2025. During that time, he worked across the aisle with 2 Republican commissioners to improve voting in the county:

  • Expanded early voting in Washington County from just 2 sites in 2014 to 21 sites in 2024 - making voting more convenient and saving taxpayer money with less equipment.

  • Adopted vote centers so any voter can cast a ballot at any polling place on Election Day.

  • Opened an early vote location on the University of Arkansas campus in 2020.

  • Expanded early voting to rural towns including Farmington, Prairie Grove, Elkins, Lincoln, West Fork, and Sonora.

  • Worked with legislators from both parties to pass Act 328, allowing high school students to serve as poll workers. Since the law was passed, over 1,000 students have been trained in Washington County!

  • Supported the creation of Arkansas’s first “I Voted” sticker contest for local children in Washington County, encouraging civic engagement from an early age.

  • Helped secure new voting equipment to modernize elections and increase accessibility.

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the leadership of the Election Commission’s Executive Director, Jennifer Price and her terrific staff. Moreover, these accomplishments were bipartisan; sometimes Max and his Republican colleagues disagreed, but at the end of the day they worked together. That’s how government should work.
